Sinks, toilets, hoses, fire-safety sprinklers – we use water in different ways every day. For many of us, our water might seem like a simple in-and-out process. We draw it from our source and use it and then it goes back out through our sewage system.
Within plumbing’s inner workings, however, there’s much more involved. Commercial water systems are divided into potable (drinkable) and non-potable supplies. It’s vital that these two types stay separate.
If your business has a sizable boiler, an irrigation system or a fire-suppression system, it will have a Reduced Pressure Zone (RPZ) valve, a backflow-prevention (cross-connection) device that protects potable water by keeping it apart from the non-potable.
The Environmental Protection Agency requires yearly backflow testing for these devices to ensure they meet safety standards. The testing needs to be performed by technicians with the right skill and equipment and current knowledge of backflow testing procedures.
1 Source Mechanical is licensed by the state of Illinois to test and certify your backflow device and conduct other backflow testing services. Because municipalities monitor the locations of these devices, we also file the necessary paperwork documenting your proper backflow inspection and maintenance.
If your backflow device doesn’t pass testing, we can provide any needed repairs. We also offer you proficiency in replacing and installing backflow-prevention devices.
